Let’s talk about the boyfriend shirt.
Oversized. Button-up. In the world of retail this supposedly means “borrowed” from the man in your life (and we certainly aren't assuming everyone has one of those!). It’s meant to feel effortless, a little flirty, a bit sexy. But honestly? The idea is worn out.
Here’s the thing: I don’t care if it’s your boyfriend’s, girlfriend’s, dad’s, mum’s, or your cat’s – if it’s not your shirt, why are we still romanticising wearing it?

Women have been conned into thinking they’re getting something special with these so-called “boyfriend shirts” – but let’s be real. Most of them are just basic oversized men’s shirts, rebranded with a cutesy label. There’s nothing ground breaking about a masculine cut with buttons too low and shoulders too wide.
And let’s be clear – women don’t need to hide behind men’s clothing. We’ve owned our look in shirts for just as long. Sharp collars, fluid shapes, relaxed fits – they’re not borrowed. They’re ours. Always have been.
I don’t wear someone else’s shirt to feel sexy, comfortable, confident, or powerful. I wear my own. I choose the fabric, the cut, the colour. I wear it like I mean it – because it fits me, not someone else.
And that’s the key: it’s not about who the shirt belonged to. It’s about finding a design you actually love, that suits your BODYshape. When it fits your vibe and shape just right, that’s when you feel incredible in it.
Because confidence? That’s not oversized. It’s tailored to you.
So, let’s stop glorifying “his” shirt and start celebrating the ones we picked for ourselves. The ones that fit us. The ones that say I’m here, and I’m owning it.
